Travertine~
Travertine has been used as building material for Millennia. In fact the Roman Colosseum is built with over 100,000 cubic meters of Travertine. In the late 20th and 21st century, Travertine has become a very popular flooring choice in the Southwest. It is also used in showers and slabs are used for counter tops. Travertine is composed primarily of calcium carbonate, which means it is sensitive to acids. These acides can leave unsightly etching or what most people call water spots. Because it is a softer stone, Travertine can also be susceptible to scratching and wear in high traffic areas over time. At reStone, we use a mixture of classic Italian and modern refinishing and repair techniques to bring your stone back to life.
Limestone~
Limestone is the oldest of the calcium carbonate based stones. Travertine and most Marble start out as Limestone before going through a transformation due to pressure and heat. All three types of stone are similar in the way they react to acids. We have the knowledge and tools necessary to refinish, repair and restore your Limestone.
